Gangwon State unveils a bold strategy, moving beyond 'Zero Euthanasia.' The province is now shifting its focus to a comprehensive animal welfare system that integrates healthcare, industry, and tourism.
To ensure 24/7 care, the State will build 24 modern shelters by 2032 and establish a public emergency medical system. This includes designating public animal hospitals to cover nights and holidays, alongside expanding the number of public veterinarians.
Gangwon is also boosting its 'Pet-Friendly' economy. In collaboration with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, a new certification system for pet-inclusive accommodations and restaurants will be introduced, while local enterprises develop premium snacks using Gangwon's regional specialties.
By combining advanced medical care with a thriving pet industry, Gangwon State is establishing a sustainable and scalable model for animal-human coexistence.
